Governance

Building trust into how we work

Frame The Future brings together organisations from across the eyewear value chain to address challenges that no single organisation can solve alone.

To make that collaboration credible, our governance is designed around three principles: members hold the highest authority, every member organisation has one vote regardless of fee level, and founder influence reduces as member governance grows.

Frame The Future is being established as a member-led, non-profit association. The proposed structure separates member authority, Board oversight and operational delivery—creating clear accountability while allowing the alliance to evolve.

Member-led by design

The General Assembly
All member organisations form the General Assembly, the association’s highest decision-making body. It elects the Board, approves the budget and accounts, and decides on amendments to the statutes.

The Board
The Board governs strategy, membership policy and executive oversight. Seats represent different roles across the eyewear ecosystem—not levels of financial contribution.

The Executive Team
The Executive Director and programme leads manage partnerships, programmes, communications and day-to-day delivery within the strategy and budget approved by the Board.

1. Establishment

During the establishment phase, five voting Board seats represent different parts of the eyewear value chain. The Board is chaired by a non-voting Founding Convenor while the founders build the alliance and establish its programmes.

2. Member Governance

As the association matures, the Board expands to seven voting seats and is led by an Independent Chair. The Founding Convenor role ends, and governance moves fully into its member-led structure.
